The 10 Best Security Companies in Boston (2026)
Boston’s mix of dense residential blocks, historic properties, academic campuses and busy commercial corridors creates varied security needs across the city. This list ranks the 10 best local security companies based on Google reviews, using a review-weighted (Bayesian-style) score that balances average rating with review volume. The roundup was updated in 2026 to reflect current reviewer sentiment and to surface providers that stand out by both score and consistency. Whether you’re evaluating guard services or home-focused security firms, these picks reflect what real customers have reported on Google.
This ranking is computed from Google reviews (our method). Listings marked Partner are paid advertising spots: they sit alongside the ranking without changing its order.

Frequently asked questions
How should I choose between security companies in Boston?
Compare services offered (guarding, patrols, alarm monitoring), licensing and insurance, client references, and contract terms. Look at recent local reviews for reliability and response times, and make sure proposals match the specific risks of your property or event.
What should I check before hiring a security guard service?
Verify that guards are properly licensed and trained, confirm the company carries liability insurance, and ask about background checks, supervision and incident reporting procedures. Get contract details in writing, including hours, rates for overtime and cancellation terms.
How does this ranking work?
The list is based on Google review data using a review-weighted (Bayesian-style) score that balances average rating with the number of reviews, updated in 2026. That method reduces the impact of very small sample sizes while highlighting businesses with strong, consistent feedback.
When is it appropriate to call a security company?
Engage a security company for ongoing protection of properties, to staff events, to respond to alarm activations, or when you need visible deterrence and rapid incident response. For immediate emergencies, always call local emergency services first.
