Searching for “a good plumber” or “a good restaurant” in Boston mostly leads to paid directories
where the ranking depends on how much a business spends on advertising. We took the opposite
approach: a computed ranking, a published method, and advertising spots clearly marked as
advertising.
How we work
Every ranking is built from Google ratings and review counts, with a weighted score that stops a
business rated 5/5 by three people from outranking a well-established one. The full method is
published on our methodology page. Rankings are recalculated every
quarter.
Independence
The rankings are not for sale. The site is funded by “Partner” spots, visually separated from
the rankings and with no influence on them: see the partner spots.
