Frequently asked questions

How should I choose a chimney sweep in Boston?

Look at verified online ratings and recent customer reviews, check for professional credentials or certifications and proof of insurance, and confirm the company’s experience with the type of appliance you have. Also ask about the scope of the service—whether it includes inspection, creosote removal, and any written report—before scheduling.

What does a typical chimney sweep service include?

A standard service commonly includes brushing and vacuuming to remove soot and creosote, a basic inspection of the flue and chimney structure, and recommendations for any repairs. Some companies offer more detailed inspections or additional services, so confirm what’s included with your estimate.

What should I check before hiring a chimney sweep?

Verify insurance and any local licenses, ask for a clear written estimate, and request references or recent reviews. It’s also sensible to confirm safety practices, how they handle debris, and whether they provide a follow-up report after the job.
